Duties & Responsibilities
About the job
The successful candidate will be a business graduate with a passion for sales coaching and have extensive experience working with diverse partners in a sales channel. The Key Performance Areas are:
- Protect our inventory
Contribute to the development, refining and implementation of the company's inventory policy and follow the policy. Control inventory receipting, and the entry/exit of inventory from store rooms. Monitor demonstration and sales inventory and ensure appropriate actions according to the ageing of the inventory. Play a role in ensuring that the product information master is accurate, and appropriately aligned to existing sales opportunities. In particular, where an inventory SKU is discontinued or the item associated with that SKU changed in any way by a vendor and/or replaced with a new SKU or new information then the product information master must be aligned and effort made to ensure that all affected sales opportunities are flagged for action. Do your work with an awareness of the impact that inventory management has on the full business.
- Inventory control and policy
Develop and refine an inventory policy with the objective of optimising both BACKORDER DAYS and INVENTORY DAYS within the constraints of our credit policy and vendor policies. BACKORDER DAYS - Carry inventory such that non-credit related backorder days averages <1 day for software and for stocked-hardware; <20 days for high-value (<$4000) non-stocked hardware, <45 days for low value non-stocked hardware. INVENTORY DAYS - For stocked SKU's purchase inventory to match 100% of shipping days in inventory days with a minimum stocking quantity = shipping days. Monitor sales pipelines in order to determine stocked versus non-stocked SKU's. Prepare / distribute recommendations to Backoffice Executive and Senior Accountant for bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) inventory purchases of distributor demonstration inventory and distributor sales inventory. Avoid ad-hoc purchases of physical inventory in order to consolidate shipping costs.
- Order and back order processing
Work with the systems team to enable order-automation such that >65% of all orders process accurately and immediately (without being touched after order entry). Where we are required to touch an order - ensure that all "manual" orders are attended to on the day they are received, and every day until processed. Where orders are incorrectly placed, notify the customer, their channel-development liaison and the appropriate functional manager.
- Shipping and clearing
Develop and refine policies and procedures for shipping, customs, duties and clearing. Ensure adherence to these policies and that the responsibilities are carried out accordingly - ensuring speed, accuracy and efficiency of logistics. Maintain a history of average shipping costs per SKU in MS-Dynamics Product Information Master. Where required, provide new quotations of shipping costs utilising either least-cost process or fastest shipment process (know the difference and advise on both).
- Trade purchasing
Refine your purchasing practices such that we gain additional sales discounts at the time of order - for every hardware order, attempt to get additional discount before placing the order. Keep track of the additional discounts earned through this work. Support efforts to digitally-enable this workflow.
