Description
Financial Controller (Cost & Management Accountant) required to provide financial support to the business - cost monitoring, reviews, cash flow and monthly reporting, annual budgets, half yearly forecasts, manage monthly cost control and reporting cycle.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide financial support to the business on a daily basis, including project costing review, cash flow and monthly reporting (project and corporate reporting). Presentation of monthly financial results to the various HODs
- Review the business units’ various project costing to ensure cash flow and profitability forecasts are in line with project budget. Consult with operational team and business unit managers
- Manage GL reporting and review the processing of project accounting modules
- Manage Journal entries to do monthly closing. Monthly consolidation and related reporting
- Monthly reporting as well as corporate reporting
- Assist Business Unit Managers with monthly closing, annual budget and quarterly forecasts based on projects status
- Assist with GL cost codes and open new job numbers in the system
- Bookings updating and follow up
- Analyse financial information by reviewing existing systems and working out the best way to meet needs with the reporting system; (optimisation of the structure)
- Conduct special investigations and feasibility studies on various projects
- Identify opportunities and risks for the business
- Manage cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy
- Control the business units financial controlling and reporting
- Assist the operational team with monthly payment certificates / invoicing to be sent as per the contracts milestones and ensure that the latter are sent on time. Check the calculating of contract price escalation / adjustment and FOREX if any
- Update client invoicing and payment template
- Check and report quarterly stock take and assist with day to day stock control
- Manage all aspects of the business units P&L, investigate balance sheet, interrogate figures to ensure accurate reporting
- Ensure all financial policies are adhered to
- Ensure that company financial procedures and practices are adhered to
- Ensure that internal controls and levels of authority of approvals are adhered to
- Perform all duties as per latest ISO 9001 quality standards
- Function as part of a team
- Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business
- Communicate with stakeholders professionally
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Good knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cash flow and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Knowledge of JD Edwards (preferred) automated financial and accounting reporting system
- Ability to train Users (Project Managers and Cost Controllers)
- Analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
- Knowledge of short- and long- term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, monthly closing and project profitability analysis
- Operation and services contract management knowledge
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Degree / Diploma / B Tech: Cost Accounting or Management Accounting essential
- 5 years relevant experience preferably within a project accounting environment
- Advanced MS Excel, MS Word and JDE (or similar)
