Description
A leading import and distributor of toy and hobby products in South Africa are actively searching for a candidate that has completed or will be completing their SAIPA articles soon and looking to gain experience as a well rounded candidate in a Financial Accountant role. The right candidate for this position can expect to gain a wealth of experience on the workings of import and distribution products, as well as excellent understanding of the respective retail environment. The position will be based at their offices in Cape Town.
A portion of the time the candidate will be required to assist with the bookkeeping functions of the business but this will not be their primary focus. You will gain exposure into multiple departments of the business and play a key role in operational support.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for processing and capturing data and will take over the monthly bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure accuracy (Debtors & Creditors reconciliations)
- Monthly reporting to Finance Manager and Directors
- Prepare month end balance sheet reconciliations including VAT reconciliations and preparations of VAT returns, PAYE and other necessary SARS requirements.
- Prepare month end journals including fixed assets, prepayments, income and expense accruals.
- Assist with ad hoc finance related tasks as required
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Completed or soon to be completed with SAIPA articles (required)
- Registered or Eligible to register as a PA(SA) (not required, but beneficial)
- 0-1 years post articles experience
- Very proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Pastel is essential for this role
- Driver’s license and own transport
- South African citizen (Required)
