Duties & Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Manage all operational objectives and resources for the Finance division
  • MAJOR TASK HEADINGS (High level Key Performance Areas/Outputs. What do you do every day/month; what are you measured on?)
  • Manage operational objectives and deadlines for Finance division
  • Coordinate resources of Finance division to ensure efficiency in delivering objectives
  • Review, improve and implement accounting procedures.
  • Preparation, review and distribution of financial reports.
  • Completion of division and business unit’s budgets.
  • Finalisation of financial year end.
  • Review, improve and implement finance IT systems.
  • Any Ad Hoc reporting or requirements.
  • Preparation of variance reports.
  • Asset Management

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TASKS (Breakdown of major tasks into sub-tasks)

  • Manage operational objectives and deadlines for Finance division
  • To manage and improve Finance division ensuring deadlines are achieved.
  • Develop Finance division schedule and communicate to relevant associate to achieve deadlines.
  • Develop and communicate Company wide schedule for Finance reports and budget preparations
  • Coordinate resource of Finance division to ensure efficiency in delivering objectives
  • Manage and develop associates, co-ordinating a small team to ensure that performance is maximised and that the capability is continually enhanced to ensure efficiency in delivering objectives.
  • Review, improve and implement accounting procedures
  • Continuously review applicable accounting procedures.
  • Improve the accounting procedures (Efficiency and statutory compliance).
  • Implement new accounting procedures in line with business growth (Operational requirements).
  • Preparation and Approval of month end balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Oversee proper action taken on queries identified as per balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation, review and distribution of financial reports
  • Review and distribute stock and asset reports.
  • Preparation of month end journal entries.
  • Preparation and review of management pack.
  • Review annual financial statements.
  • Preparation of Balance sheet and income statement recons.
  • Assist on preparation for stock counts.
  • Completion of division and business unit’s budgets
  • Assisting other managers to complete divisional budgets.
  • Amending and distribution of budget input model.
  • Completion and consolidation of HSAF budget.
  • Distribution of completed budgets.
  • Finalisation of financial year end
  • Co-ordinate year end process.
  • Set deadlines regarding year end.
  • Liaison for external auditors.
  • Resolve queries regarding year end.
  • Liaison / Assist with tax consultants for Year-end tax computations.
  • Review and comment on drafts AFS.
  • Asset Management
  • Review and distribute stock and asset reports
  • Following up and assist to resolve queries on outstanding debtors
  • Do GL reconciliations
  • Assist on preparation for stock counts.
  • Review, improve and implement IT systems
  • Review, improve and implement changes to Pastel
  • Advice on changes to other operational systems to be in line with IFRS. E.g. DCS, etc.
  • Any Ad Hoc reporting or requirements
  • Queries from SARS or other statutory queries (VAT Audits)
  • Complete and submit any ad hoc reports as requested by associates, Heads, GM’s, Vice. president or President
  • Resolve creditor’s queries
