Description

Purpose of the job:

To support the maintenance systems and processes in accordance with statutory and regulatory Engineering standards. In addition, to achieve the necessary experiential training objectives stipulated by the applicable tertiary institution that will satisfy a successful P1 and P2 completion

 ESH & QUALITY

ESH Management:

  • Apply health, safety and environment within the internal environment
  • Comply to Legislation as set out in the OSH Act and to organisational standards
  • Address workplace hazards and risks
  • Within scope of authority of the role, carry out all the employers lawful orders in the interest of health and safety, and  report any unsafe acts or conditions

Quality & Food Safety:

  • Comply to Legislation as set out in the Foodstuffs Disinfectants and Cosmetics Act and all other relevant Food legislation, regulations and organisational standards
  • Apply and continuously improve procedures within internal environment Conduct audits of the Engineering Quality Management System
  • Comply with requirements of the Integrated Management System

FINANCE:

Financial Management:

  • Ensure controls are in place to mitigate material risks
  • Monitor and control costs in area of responsibility
  • Protect company assets (working capital & fixed assets)
  • Minimise waste and rework
  • Monitor customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with a range of customers

  • Liaise with a range of suppliers

PROCESS:

Reliability Engineering:

  • Identify critical equipment as per Critical Equipment Guidelines
  • Evaluate Maintenance & Reliability KPI's in order to identify potential improvement opportunities
  • Recommend Technical Changes (Engineering standards, specifications, etc.)
  • Provide technical support to the Maintenance team

Maintenance Planning:

  • Support the Maintenance programme (SAP)
  • Maintain and update Maintenance plans

Maintenance Management/Supervision:

  • Develop, maintain and update Engineering Maintenance procedures and standards in line with legislation and industry best practices
  • Analyze and interpret Maintenance data, assess deviations and initiate corrective actions
  • Implement new Maintenance programmes and coordinate predictive and preventive Maintenance
  • Perform routine plant inspections to identify non conformances

Stock Control:

  • Monitor critical stock items and determine optimum stock levels for effective servicing of plant and equipment

Design:

  • Design basic mechanical components

Maintenance:

  • Analyse and solve complex mechanical problems
  • Coordinate the refurbishment/overhauling of machines

Draughting:

  • Establish client requirements and gather and apply required design information
  • Ensure the integrity of the Mechanical Drawing System

Projects:

  • Manage a project team of a technical project to deliver project objectives
  • Contribute to project initiation, scope definition and scope change control
  • Participate in the estimation and preparation of cost budget and draft schedules for a project or sub project
  • Contribute to the management of project risk within own field of expertise
  • Develop a simple schedule to facilitate effective project execution
  • Monitor, evaluate and communicate simple project schedules
  • Identify, suggest and implement corrective actions to improve quality of project work
  • Conduct project documentation management to support project processes
  • Provide procurement technical support to a project (Specification approval, tender adjudication, etc.)
  • Provide assistance in implementing and assuring project work meets quality requirements
