Duties & Responsibilities
Main job function
Assemble electrical drawing packages from customer supplied SLD’s and specifications which are then checked by the drawing office manager
Liaise with technical staff and other personnel to resolve problems
Draft working drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring connection specifications and/or cross-sections of LV Electrical Assemblies, as required for manufacturing
Draw master drawings to scale, showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions
Measure factors that affect installation/cost and arrangement of equipment, such as busbar/cable distances etc.
Peruse quotations and costings in order to determine type of product
Possibly visit installation sites and have site meetings with clients to determine electrical requirements
Determine the order of work and the method of presentation, General Arrangements, Single Line Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams etc.
Explain drawings to production and/or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary
Prepare and interpret project specifications and electrical requirements
Review completed construction drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations
Excellent knowledge of ABB, Schneider, Siemens, Electromechanica, Rockwell and DSE components, to name a few
Experience in generating drawings for DB’s, MCC’s, Generator Change-Overs, Solar/Grid Tie-in Panels, control panels, minisubs etc
Good understanding of SABS Standards. Such as SANS 10142, SANS 60439/61439, SANS 1973 Part 1 and 3
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical Software
Been exposed to On-Site Electrical installations, in order to understand the challenges designing Electrical Assemblies
Desired Experience & Qualification

Relevant Draughting Diploma/Degree
Experience/Criteria
MCC drawings / design / projects A MUST
ESTIMATING AND COST EXPERIENCE A MUST
LOW VOLTAGE EXPERIENCE A MUST
5+ years
Own transport
