team. The purpose and aim of the DevOps team or practice is to facilitate
implementation of DevOps across the group’s IT teams thereby improving
overall delivery.

As a DevOps engineer you are expected to understand the
entire lifecycle and assist in implementing flexible, scalable, innovative and
modern solutions in support of an Agile SDLC. Continuously enhance the
monitoring and measurability of system performance metrics that will provide
input into continuous improvement and stabilization efforts.

What you will be doing? / Duties
Promote DevOps culture and practices across the organization
Understand programming and assist teams with development practices
Do any general software development
Assist in automated testing strategies for development teams
Assist with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery implementation across
the entire IT landscape
Effectively leverage all DevOps tooling delivery pipelines
Implement automation for deployment pipelines for applications and
configurations
Understands operating systems and can use Linux proficiently
Understands infrastructure and virtualization technologies
Help create strategies around cloud transformation
Help with scaling of systems
Able to implement containerization
Implement CI pipelines in order to facilitate faster delivery
Assist with testing strategies and automated testing implementations to improve
the quality of delivered software
Automating mundane and repetitive work across IT
Assist in architecting complex, multi-faceted applications across cloud platforms
Assist in improving releases through the practices of DevOps
Implement monitoring to effectively maintain systems
Experiment with new technologies to assist with the cloud transformation
journey

Specific Technology Requirements
Terraform scripting for hardware provisioning
Ansible / Chef scripting for configuration management and software deployment.
Gitlab / GitHub as a lifecycle tool for DevOps CI/CD automation
Git and SVN as Source Control Management
Experience using Linux OS and Bash scripting
Kubernetes / Docker for containerization and orchestration
Database knowledge of SQL or NoSQL
IT Security practices and tools
Cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS and their respective toolsets.

EDUCATION General Education
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
These degrees are preferred
EXPERIENCE General Experience
Minimum of 2+ years of progressive work experience as a DevOps engineer
