Description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to Identify and build appropriate models for use in the company's operations and servicing environments
- Implementing results for use in operational environments
- Monitoring model performance
- Mining large structured and unstructured datasets for data exploration to find new insights to inform operational efficiency and interaction strategies
- Present data and model findings in a way that provides actionable insightsImprove processes and databases where opportunities arise

Desired Experience & Qualification
Education and Experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in at least one statistical modelling tool (SPSS modeller (preferred), SAS)
- 3 to 5 years’ experience using optimisation and/or simulation tools such as LINGO, AIMMS, Arena, Simio etc.
- Solid coding and programming skills with SQL, and at least one of R, Python, Spark or similar
- Some exposure to the Scala programming language preferred
- Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles utilising Hadoop and MapReduce Strong analytical and statistical / machine learning skills
- Ability to formulate problem statements and develop a plan for tackling the problem
- Above average ability to work with, analyse and communicate findings from data (verbal and written) Ability to source and combine data from both structured and unstructured sources
- Honours or Master’s degree in either Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research or Applied Mathematics with some experience in software engineering, computer science or working with big disparate sets of data, OR
- Honours or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering with solid experience in statistical modelling, data mining, machine learning or optimisation is essential
- Other analytical qualifications will also be considered if accompanied by the relevant experience
