Description

The Credit Controller will be responsible to oversee the full process of customer accounts in a manner that ensures high customer satisfaction and loyalty. As such, the candidate must be able to communicate in an efficient yet friendly manner with customers, as well as the broader accounts receivable team, sales team and Group, while reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.  This position is  based in Stellenbosch.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Creating procedures and policies that ensure timely payments while maintaining a high level of customer retention
  • Implement credit limit monitoring processes and implement automation of processes within current business and accounting systems
  • Reconciling complex accounts that have been escalated from debtor’s accountant
  • Monitoring debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debtors overdue
  • Ensuring credit and collection policies and procedures are followed within the organisation
  • Liaising with customers, as well as internal personnel including the sales team
  • Manage full invoice discounting program with internal and external stakeholders
  • Checking customer’s credit ratings with banks and debtor’s insurance company
  • Setting up the terms and conditions of a loan
  • Timely and effective collection of all debts and customers payments
  • Negotiating re-payment plans together with CFO and MD
  • Oversee maintaining contact with clients to ensure invoices are clear for payment
  • Resolving queries both internally and externally around outstanding invoices
  • Oversee posting and allocating of daily receipts to accounting systems
  • Providing accounts information to internal departments
  • Liaise with group credit and compliance to ensure annual credit limit reviews are adhered to
  • Prepare credit limit applications for CFO and MD approval
  • Manage debtor’s insurance process
  • Ensure that Group policy is adhered to and amend and create to fit local company requirements.
  • Responsible for system and process improvements and automation to improve efficiency of full credit function.
  • Work closely with Treasury Controller to implement debtors financing structures timeously

Desired Experience & Qualification

A Credit Controller job description should detail a minimum Bachelor’s degree requirement in a finance or business related field of study.

In addition to five to eight years’ experience working within an accounts receivable and/or credit control environment, candidates for a Credit Controller role will also need to demonstrate the following qualities:

  1. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  2. Good business acumen for problem solving
  3. Competency with large ERP systems
  4. Confidence to deal with a range of stakeholders
  5. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize a demanding workload

Preference will be given to individuals with exposure to the grain industry and derivative markets.

Package & Remuneration

  • Market related salary
  • To start immediately
  • Overtime where necessary; predominantly at soft close and month end
  • 3-months probation
  • 2 calendar months' notice period
  • Financial year end is December
  • Season runs from April - August
