  • Must be able to lead from the front but also know when to be led. Humility is important
  • An understanding of cultural diversity and specifically the ability to connect with the younger generation is a key requirement for the role
  • Must be able to communicate, motivate and inspire staff at all levels and be comfortable on the “shop floor” as well as in the board room
  • Attention to detail with the aptitude and interest to quickly understand the details and be prepared to ‘roll up sleeves’ when necessary. Must be a team player
  • Ability to think conceptually while effectively executing strategy. Must be numerate and analytical
  • Must be “hungry” to assume the opportunity and excited to “step up” into the role
  • Must possess the requisite EQ when dealing with the Founders and Shareholders, have the sensitivity to keep them informed and must be able to manage both “upwards and downwards” in an organisation
