Description
Our company is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Buyer to join our dynamic team.
JOB PURPOSE
To successfully source and procure product for the various consumer segments as dictated by the Group product strategy. To build ranges that meets the Group’s strategy in terms of pricing, positioning and market penetration with specific attention to quick response and trading opportunities working closely with the Planner to achieve financial objectives per category / department. To operate within a team environment ensuring flow of information sharing to benefit the organization and the future success of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILTIES - (Duties)
Key activities include:
- Successfully source and procure a range of the product
- Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.
- Negotiate effectively.
- Build and maintain good relationships with other staff, suppliers (both nationally & internationally) and key functions in the business.
- Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail.
- Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.
- Do store visits to all stores as it arises as
- Manage all admin related tasks within the merchandise division
Key Performance Areas

Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Financial Degree or equivalent will be advantageous
Experience required
- Computer experience MS Office, Outlook
- Excel minimum Intermediate to advance level experience must be able to demonstrate same
- 5 years working experience in a similar role
- ACCPAC system experience will be advantageous
