Description

Our client in the banking industry is looking to employ a Business Engineer with Risk experience in the Card Services and Business Development division.

 

The purpose of the job is to imagine, innovate, implement and improve Risk function capabilities to deliver on the company vision.

  • Primary Focus: To translate the company’s vision and strategy into the future Risk capability architecture at enterprise level  to develop an implementation roadmap and  drive the delivery of the initiatives to meet client needs, deliver business benefits and meet regulatory compliance.
  • Secondary Focus: Translate business needs emanating from various projects, ideas or system changes across Support Divisions into business requirements for developing/buying IT systems. Developing change management/project plans for implementing the initiatives together with the policies/procedures/performance measures.

  • Translates the company’s vision and strategy into the future Risk capability operating model for the company.
  • Design business processes to deliver on Risk operating model and other prioritised projects
  • Drive continuous improvement to ensure business benefits of projects are achieved
  • Management of Product Owner and Business Representatives

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

The following qualifications are required:

  • Grade 12
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (IT, Engineering, Regulatory)

 

Knowledge of the following areas are beneficial to perform the job:

  • Regulatory in-depth knowledge of various regulatory bodies (SARB, NCR and PASA) and regulations (e.g. FICA, Banking Legislation, Debt Collection, POPI etc.)
  • Banking transactional processes
  • Business process mapping methodologies
  • Project Management methodologies
  • Continuous improvement best practices (Lean, 6-Sigma, Theory of constraints)

 

Requires the skill to conceptually design new Target Operating Model and ability to operationalise the Model

  • Translate regulatory requirements into business process requirements
  • Strategic insight (Ability to connect the dots and mature business acumen))
  • Highly collaborative (Ability to work across enterprise at all levels and applying good communications, facilitative interpersonal & relationship management skills)
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet)
  • Concept articulation and presentation skills
  • Process and Simulation modelling skills (IDEF0, financial modelling, Planning process modelling)
  • Must be able to function under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Leadership skills (Applying situational leadership, planning, organising and controlling)
  • Operationalisation (Able to develop project/change management plans and inspire stakeholders to implement)
  • Implementation of risk processes and models

 

 

Experience:

 

Min:

  • 8-10 years of enterprise wide risk business model design and operationalisation of new concepts

Ideal:                                                          

  • Translating corporate strategies and regulatory requirements into a Risk target operating model
  • Initiation and implementation of projects with the goal to implement the Risk target operating model and improve business performance
  • Initiate and drive continues improvement
  • Management/Leadership experience (4 direct reports – Risk Product Owner & Business Representatives)

 

GENERAL

 

  • Own reliable transport and valid driver’s licence are pre-requisites
  • Be able to travel nationally/internationally when required
  • This position requires the incumbent to be available after hours in case of emergency
