Basketball Coach (Part-time)

The College invites applications for the above-mentioned position, which will be available from 2 September 2023. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills,passion and competencies to take on this leadership position

Requirements:

  • Proven performance in coaching and mentoring student-athletes; including experience in the pastoral space
  • Relevant BSA/FIBA qualifications
  • Clearance from the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO) confirming no record of sexual offences against children and mentally impaired people or a valid police clearance certificate
  • Ability to manage practices and work nights and/or weekends
  • Conflict management skills
  • Proven ability to work with diverse teams and/or a commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Understands and adheres to the by-laws, policies, procedures, regulations, and rules of St Stithians College

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching of students during team practices (planning and executing practice sessions)
  • The attendance and coaching of students at home and away fixtures (including all relevant tournaments and/or festivals)
  • Committed to the development of each player and helping students develop in the sport, and teaching good sportsmanship
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships with athletes, coaching staff, parents and staff that support basketball.
  • Complete attendance registers at all practices and submits team lists timeously for fixtures to the relevant Teacher-in-Charge (TIC) of the sport
  • Write termly sports comments for students and submit them timeously to TIC
  • Represent Girls’ College Sport at relevant sports trials when/where necessary as selectors and/or umpires
  • Live out the Saints values while as acting as role models to our students
