Description
We’re seeking an Assistant Financial Manager at a Medium-Large sized Wholesale and Distribution company based in Germiston. This role is a great opportunity for an ambitious and qualified AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA). The successful candidate will gain managerial experience and extensive exposure to the big picture of the business as a whole.
As the Assistant Financial Manager you will be required to take ownership of the finances of a specific department within the company by managing the daily operating finance functions and working across departments. The candidate will report to the Group Head of Finance and develop and maintain financial and management reporting systems, structures and processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To review financial transactions on the accounting system before final posting to ensure that all transactions are processed accurately (e.g., Correct treatment of VAT, correct account allocation etc.).
- Take ownership of monthly management reporting to the executive team and assist the Head of Finance in preparation and feedback on variance analysis.
- Take full responsibility for preparing the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packs.
- To provide support to the finance team by repairing ad hoc financial reports from the accounting and finance system as per the instructions received.
- To apply the basic accounting principles, knowledge, and techniques to analyse variances, assist in production of journals, and perform routine accounting activities.
- To perform accounting computations and calculations accurately, and try to identify if there are discrepancies, and if there are any errors, try to resolve them.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Completed 3 years of SAICA or SAIPA articles (Required).
- Registered/Eligible to register as an AGA (SA) or PA (SA) (Preferred).
- 2-6 years post articles experience in a similar type of role (Beneficial).
- Previous experience as a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager preferred.
- In depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures is a must with an ability to identify accounting discrepancies.
Package & Remuneration
R30 000 - R40 000 p.m (CTC)
