Our client is a specialist in the field of agricultural economics and a preferred business partner for many in the fruit production industry. They are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Agricultural Economist to join their team.

The Agricultural Economist will focus on interpreting information to provide practical, trend analyses input and strategic input to customers whilst efficiently managing large amounts of sensitive and confidential information. This position is based in Bellville and will report to the Director.

• Recruiting and sourcing of new customers and sell services and product offering
• Responsible for data completeness, accuracy, integrity, validity and context
• Provide strategic input and feedback to customers
• Interpreting trends
• Understanding the changing needs of customers and developing new products
• Manage ad-hoc projects from time to time
• Resolve discrepancies in information
• Collaborate with all relevant parties and employees to improve processes
• Report back on activities and issues
• Any other functions may be required from time to time when necessary as requested by the business

• B.Sc/B.Com degree (Agricultural Economics) with a background and strong skills in information systems
• Proven work experience in the agricultural industry
• High attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
• Excellent report writing skills
• Advanced computer literacy
• Ownership and preparedness to learn
• Ability to be proactive and function on your own
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with arising issues
• Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
• Customer focused
• Willingness to travel
