Description
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
- Maintaining the Asset Register to reflect accurate information;
- Processing financial transactions related to assets;
- Reconciling asset expenditure and capitalisation;
- Filing of documentation;
- Reviewing and approving of purchasing requisitions and asset removal permit requests;
- Supporting the Deputy Manager: Assets in executing the sectional strategy and achieving all financial and service targets;

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Accounting (NQF level 6);
- Three- years previous working experience within asset management and/or financial administration.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge of Asset management and Asset Register;
- Knowledge of reconciliations;
- Financial systems and preparation of financial reports;
- Financial management principles, policies and procedures;
- Computer literacy: MS office (Word, Excel, Power point);
- Experience with a ERP system (ORACLE/SAP/Peoplesoft/ITS);
- Web based functions;
- Work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Good problem-solving skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Planning & organisational skills;
- Detail orientated.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Relevant degree in Accounting;
- Two years’ experience working in a higher education environment;
- One year experience working with an ERP system (ORACLE/SAP/Peoplesoft/ITS).
SALARY DETAILS
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
