Description
The purpose of this position is to take responsibility for the processes involved in reviewing, updating, researching, drafting, and providing interpretation and advice relating to the legislative and regulatory issues within the company, including a focus on insurance (and financial market infrastructure), legislation and regulation.
Duties & Responsibilities
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
- Contribute to, and take responsibility for the development of appropriate legislative and regulatory frameworks that have an impact on the company.
- Take responsibility for monitoring and reviewing local and international legislation, regulation, and policies that have an impact on the mandate of the company, and advise the Head of Legislation and Financial Sector Law, senior management in the Legal Services Department, and others across the company on any developments.
- Conduct research on issues relating to the legislative, regulatory, and policy frameworks that have an impact on the company and the financial sector, and advise on their impact on the current frameworks.
- Draft legislation and regulations as well as opinion papers to address specific concerns of the company, and propose new positions to the company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
- At least an LLB Degree or an equivalent degree; and
- At least five to seven years’ relevant work experience.
The following would be an added advantage:
- Admission as an Attorney or an Advocate of the High Court, and
- Insurance industry experience.
