Mambo’s Plastics Warehouse - fast growing national retailer in plastics goods and homeware has a vacancy for Store Manager/Assistant Store Manager at our NEW store opening in Springfield, Durban.
This position requires a high-energy, self-motivated individual with strong people management skills and the ability to lead and manage the store and staff.
The successful applicant must be comfortable with operating independently and with working in a fast paced environment that is results-oriented and where performance is tied to turnover goals.
As a store manager, you are responsible for the overall management of your store. You deliver sales goals year-over-year by motivating, developing, and empowering your team. You hold your store team accountable for providing exceptional customer service. You recruit, select and develop the best talent for your store. You ensure operational excellence in your store to maximize sales and profitability. You care about and value people and exemplify our core values.
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose:
Our store managers are the leaders of our organization. As a member of the management team you’ll be responsible for coaching and guiding shop assistants to ensure we achieve our mission to provide a world-class shopping experience to our customer as well as ensuring the professional growth and development of your team. You’ll be challenged to manage the daily operations of one of our star retail stores. Our managers are entrepreneurs, innovators, role models and coaches who drive results, bring the Mambo’s way to life in our stores, and ultimately support the continuing success and growth of the Mambo’s brand.
KEY OUTCOMES
Customer Service
Work with and lead your team to achieve high levels of customer service in order to build customer loyalty, generate repeat business, and maximise all sales opportunities. This is achieved by ensuring adherence to the Customer Service Standards and focusing on building Mambo’s Client database. Demonstrate & communicate product knowledge to customers. Instill frequent product knowledge in team members
Financial Management
Ensure operational costs of the store are managed in order to ensure budgeted profitability is met.
Leadership
Lead by example, promoting the desired culture and behaviours to the store team & customers whilst ensuring that relationships with Key stakeholders within Mambos remain productive and integrated.
Human Resources
Work with the HR Manager to identify and deliver the required staff training and development needs. Ensure timely and accurate communication of HR administration.
People Management
Provide training and development to direct reports so that they can be effective in their roles. Establish performance expectations and ensure development and training is consistent with company policies and individual aspirations.
Visual Merchandising
Ensure that all department visual merchandising, display and marketing activities are in line with the store profile and implemented and maintained to brand standard.
Stock Control and Operating Procedures
To maximise sales and minimise shrinkage through the accurate administration of incoming and outgoing merchandise, ensuring product is presented and restocked in line with Mambos standards.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements:
• 2 – 4 years’ experience in Retail Management
• Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
• Spend the majority of time on the selling floor, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, lifting)
• Flexible to work long retail hours/ and over weekends
• At least 3 years of experience as a manager of store of comparable volume and complexity.
• Excellent Managerial Skills
• Financial Understanding of Retail Profit Factors
• Understanding Stock Control
Skills / Duties:
• Computer Literate (POS)
• Proven Record for sales, stock loss control and Staff training skills
• Excellent Customer Relations skills
